Item Title:Authorization for Staff to Submit Electric Vehicle Charging Station Application to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO)

Background:

Staff received a request (attached) from the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging stations.  The deadline for a response is March 17th.  The location must be on government owned property, and would need two (2) parking spaces dedicated to the station.  Staff would recommend that the Commission authorize staff to submit the following locations:

 

1.      James S. Page Governmental Complex

2.      Mickler Street Building in Callahan

3.      Other locations as recommended by the Commission

In addition, the Commission will need to determine if the County will charge for the electricity used at the locations.  Based on experiences in Jacksonville, the stations will use less than $500 of electricity per year.

Request:
Discuss/consider request to submit an Electric Vehicle Charging Station Application to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) for installation of electronic vehicle charging stations at the James S. Page Governmental Complex, the Callahan County Building, and any other location determined by the Board.

Staff recommends the Board of County Commissioners authorize the County Manager submit the applications for the charging stations as determined by the Commission.
