BOCC AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Newspaper Selection for Delinquent Tax Advertising
Date:3/27/2017
Department:County Manager's Office
Background:

The Tax Collector's Office publishes a list of unpaid property taxes in the local newspaper annually. Historically, if the Board did not select the newspaper for the publishing, the Tax Collector selected the newspaper as allowed by Florida Statute. That Statute has been revised and the Board must select the newspaper.

The Tax Collector's Office solicited bids from the Nassau County Record, the NewsLeader and the Westside Journal. The Nassau County Record and the NewsLeader both submitted bids and the NewsLeader had the lowest cost per reader. No bid was received from the Westside Journal. Attached is a spreadsheet containing additional information.

Note: Although the Board is responsible for selecting the newspaper for publication, the Tax Collector's Office pays all advertising costs.
