Volunteers appointed to serve on lower boards and committees serve at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Individual BOCC members may put forward nominations for volunteers to be considered by the full BOCC for appointment to a lower board or committee. The term, required qualifications, and district assignment of a particular appointment are unique for each lower board or committee and are addressed individually. The lower boards and committees under the BOCC include:
- American Beach Water and Sewer District Advisory Board
- Nassau County-Amelia Island Tree Commission
- Amelia Island Tourist Development Council
- Fernandina Beach Arts Council (aka Arts and Culture Nassau)
- Nassau County Conservation Lands Acquisition and Management (CLAM) Committee
- Nassau County Code Enforcement Board
- Nassau County Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals
- Nassau County Conditional Use and Variance Board
- Nassau County Economic Development Board
- Essential Housing Advisory Committee
- Northeast Florida Fire Watch Council
- Health Planning of Northeast Florida
- Nassau County Public Library Advisory Board
- Nassau County Planning and Zoning Board
- Nassau County Recreation Commission
- St. Mary's River Management Committee
- Nassau County Value Adjustment Board
Annually, at the reorganization meeting of the BOCC, appointments to the various lower boards and committees will be reviewed. Attached is a packet detailing the appointments to each lower board and committee.
Commissioner McCullough is requesting the full BOCC consider the following 'District' appointments as part of tonight's reorganization meeting:
- Harold "Skip" Frey to replace the Code Enforcement Board District 4 Representative, Mimi Vitale
- Donald Walker to fill the Conditional Use and Variance Board District 4 Representative vacancy
- Robert "Shane" Petty to replace Planning and Zoning Board District 4 Representative, Barry Holloway
- Baylee Franklin to replace the Planning and Zoning Board District 4 At-Large Representative, Wayne Arnold
Terms for any newly appointed Board member will begin January 1, 2023 and run through the length of the term for the specified Board or Committee seat. To restate, volunteers serve at the pleasure of the BOCC. Nominations from individual BOCC members may be considered by the full BOCC at any point in the year, or at the expiration of the individual appointee's term. |
