Item Title:Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals Vacancy

Background:

The Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals is a volunteer board that works to provide remedy for any disagreements in interpretation of the Building Codes.  Any individual claiming these codes have been misconstrued or incorrectly interpreted have the ability to appeal the decision before the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals.

 

The Board must be made up on seven (7) individuals with backgrounds as follows:

  • One (1) member with background in a fire-related occupation and knowledge of the Codes.
  • Three (3) members with background in a construction-related occupation (general contracting), including sub-contracting (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
  • One (1) member with background in engineering/architecture
  • Two (2) members from any occupational background

 

Mr. Ron Flick, General Contractor, is being considered by the BOCC for appointment to the Planning and Zoning Board.  If approved, the Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals will have a vacancy.  Staff requests approval to solicit resumes for volunteers to serve on the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals.

Request:
Approve County Staff to solicit resumes for a volunteer to serve on the Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals, in the Construction Related Occupation field.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Citizens are benefitted by the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals as the Board works to provide remedy for any disagreements in interpretation of the Building Codes.  Any individual claiming these codes have been misconstrued or incorrectly interpreted have the ability to appeal the decision before the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
