Item Title:Approve Updates to The Nassau County Safety Policy

Background:

While the Safety Policy has been in place for a number of years, it was recently updated in July 2022 to mostly restate, reorganzie and to bring current Safety forms currently in use.  Human Resources is seeking approval of two additional changes: 

  1. The addition of a provision to the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Section, whereby non-union employees in safety sensitive positions which require the use of safety shoes/boots, would be eligible to receive an annual voucher for the purchase of such safety shoes/boots.
  2. The removal of a reference in the Claims Reporting Procedures which is no longer valid. 
Request:
Approve updates to the Personal Protective Equipment and Claims Reporting Procedures Sections of the Nassau County Safety Policy. 
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Estimated $6,650.00 annually to be budgeted within departmental budgets. 
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Approve updates to the Personal Protective Equipment and Claims Reporting Procedures Sections of the Nassau County Safety Policy.
