| | | | | | | | | Background: | The Nassau County Board of County Commissioners have contracted annually with the State of Florida Department of Health for the operation of the Nassau County Health Department. If approved, this contract will become effective October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024.
Pursuant to Chapter 154, Florida Statutes, the intent of the legislature is to "promote, protect, maintain, and improve the health and safety of all citizens and visitors of this state through a system of coordinated county health department services." Throughout Florida, County Health Departments were created to satisfy this legislative intent through the "promotion of the public's health, the control and eradication of preventable diseases, and the provision of primary health care for special populations." | | Request: | | Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM3521, with the State of Florida Department of Health for the operation of the Nassau County Department of Health for Contract Year 2023-2024. | | Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens: | | With the support of our community partners, the Florida Department of Health in Nassau County can develop and implement health initiatives that benefit our residents and visitors.
