| | | | | | | | | Background: | The Nassau County Sheriff's Office submitted a grant application for the Department of Justice, Concerns of Community Policing Services (COPS), Hiring Program that was approved on May 8, 2023. The COPS program has approved the Sheriff's application for 4 officer positions under the 2023 COPS Hiring Program (CHP23) Grant. The amount of federal funds to be awarded to Nassau County over the thirty-six month award period is $500,000 with a local cash match of $720,696 that will be provided by the Sheriff's Office.
After year three, the Sheriff's budget will be required to absorb the full cost of the four deputies.
