Item Title:SHIP Contract for Home Rehabilitation

Background:

The State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) provides funds to local governments as an incentive to create partnerships that produce and preserve affordable homeownership. The program is designed to serve very low, low and moderate income families. Without SHIP assistance the homeowners cannot continue to live in their homes as they will soon not meet local housing codes and requirements.

 

Otis and Marie Mason have been awarded funds for the SHIP Rehabilitation Program.  Invitation to Bid NC23-043 was advertised and there were two responses received.  We recommend the lowest bid amount.  The results of the bids are as follows:

 

Patriot Response Group, LLC                        $118,528.74

DSW Homes, LLC                                       $261,367.87

 

There are sufficient SHIP funds to cover the rehabilitation project up to $125,000 each. The final award of bid will be determined between the owner of the property and the vendor. 

Request:
Approve and authorize Chairman to sign the Contract No. 3584 with Otis and Marie Mason for SHIP Rehabilitation Project, accepting qualifying bids and authorizing the County Manager to execute any and all necessary contracts, contract addendums and/or documents upon review and approval by the County Attorney.
