| | | | | | | | | Background: | All portions of State Road A1A throughout the State; including Nassau County, will be designated as "Jimmy Buffett Memorial Highway" with House Bill 91. The dedication will honor sing-songwriter Jimmy Buffett who passed away on September 1, 2023. State Representative Dean Black will be co-sponsoring House Bill 91 with Speaker pro tempore Chuck Clemons at the Florida House of Representatives. With the Boards approval, Nassau County's resolution will give the Florida Department of Transportation authority to place a marker along the Nassau County portion of State Road A1A.
Florida Statues, Section 334.071, allows for the erection of markers for designation of a transportation facility for honorary or memorial purposes contingent upon a resolution by a county commission in support of the designation.
