Background:
The Nassau County Sheriff's Office was awarded the Department of Homeland Security 2023 Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) in the amount of $320,584. This grant requires a match of $106,861 for a total of $427,445, for the purchase of one AM800 Enclosed Center Console Vessel. The PSGP plays an important role in the implementation of the National Preparedness System by supporting the building, sustainment and delivery of core capabilities essential to achieving the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient Nation.
Request:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM3609, with Silver Ships, Inc., for the purchase of an AM800 Enclosed Center Console Vessel, and authorize the County Manager to execute any change orders as needed.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Without this purchase the waterside perimeter security spanning the Port of Fernandina's main pier and waterway could be vulnerable to any potential waterborne threats.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Contract No. CM3609, with Silver Ships, Inc., for the purchase of an AM800 Enclosed Center Console Vessel, and authorize the County Manager to execute any change orders as needed.
