Item Title:Consideration of Resolution Relating to Establishing a 35 MPH Speed Limit on Sauls Road in Callahan

Background:

Sauls Road in Callahan was chip sealed in 2013. A speed limit was not established at that time because it was not required. Since that date, Staff conducted a speed and volume count study and determined 35 MPH to be an appropriate speed.

The County Commission has the authority to regulate or prohibit specific types of vehicles under Florida Statutes, the Florida Uniform Traffic Law, Section 316.006.

Request:
Consider a Resolution establishing a 35 MPH Speed Limit on Sauls Road and authorize Staff to install speed limit signs.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Establishing speed limits work to establish a standard in which drivers can react safely to driving problems encountered on the roadway.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Consider a Resolution establishing a 35 MPH Speed Limit on Sauls Road and authorize Staff to install speed limit signs.
