The Amelia Concours d'Elegance will take place February 29, 2024 - March 3, 2024.  In conjunction with that event, Omni Amelia Island will be hosting an auction for Gooding & Company.  Due to the size of the event, additional parking is needed. 

Omni Amelia Island is requesting the use of Burney Park on February 28th - March 1st, 2024 for overflow parking and shuttle service to the auction.  Omni Amelia Island will operate shuttles to transport guests during the event.

Note: Should the Board approve their request to utilize Burney Park for their event, staff offers the following conditions which would be consistent with recent requests to utilize the beachfront parks: 

1. The access to Burney Park shall remain open to the general public.
2. Mandate the southeast corner of the lot remain open for public use. This area contains all handicapped accessible spaces plus 30-35 regular parking spaces.  Attached are aerial photos depicting the areas that staff suggests leaving open for the general public.
3. Park access shall remain open and free of any obstructions to visitors.  Event personnel shall not install barricades or any other devices which could deter the public from entering Burney Park.

By allowing Omni Amelia Island to use Burney park for the Gooding & Company auction, citizens will have reduced and/or limited access to public areas typically available for use.

No monetary payment has been offered for the utilization of the community's beach access no for any wear or impact to the park infrastructure.
