Volunteers appointed to serve on lower boards and committees serve at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Individual BOCC members may put forward nominations for volunteers to be considered by the full BOCC for appointment to a lower board or committee. The term, required qualifications, and district assignment of a particular appointment are unique for each lower board or committee and are addressed individually. Annually, at the reorganization meeting of the BOCC, appointments to the various lower boards and committees will be reviewed. The lower boards and committees under the BOCC include:
- American Beach Water and Sewer District Advisory Board
- Nassau County-Amelia Island Tree Commission
- Amelia Island Tourist Development Council
- Nassau County Conservation Lands Acquisition and Management (CLAM) Committee
- Nassau County Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals
- Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
- Health Planning of Northeast Florida
- Nassau County Public Library Advisory Board
- Nassau County Planning and Zoning Board
- Nassau County Recreation Commission
- St. Mary's River Management Committee
- Nassau County Value Adjustment Board
Terms for any newly appointed Board member will begin January 1, 2024 and run through the length of the term for the specified Board or Committee seat. To restate, volunteers serve at the pleasure of the BOCC. Nominations from individual BOCC members may be considered by the full BOCC at any point in the year, or at the expiration of the individual appointee's term. |
