Item Title:Appointment of Planning Director to RTCC

Background:
Creation of the Regional Transit Coordinating Committee (RTCC) is one of the action steps identified in the Regional Transportation Commitee’s Regional Multimodal Transportation Plan.  The first meeting was held in August, 2016.  At the third meeting one of the committee members, representing one of the local transit operators, suggested that County Planning Departments should be represented on the committee since all local operators received county funding.  The RTC Board subsequently approved these appointments, and the RTC Executive Director has been “recruiting” ever since.
 
The RTCC has adopted the following Mission and Action Steps: 
 
RTCC Mission: To promote and facilitate the development of a seamless regional transportation system that achieves efficiencies, eliminates duplication and increases coordination to address service and funding gaps.
 
This mission will be accomplished by:
  • Coordinating regional transit planning, operations, services, capital investments and related transit activities.
  • Educating the public on the value, availability and use of regional public transit.
  • Pursuing public and private funding for regional transit projects.
Request:
Consider appointment of the Planning & Economic Opportunity Director, or his designee, to serve on the Regional Transit Coordinating Committee.
