Item Title:Permission To Apply a Surface Treatment in Swallowfork Subdivision

Background:

The Road & Bridge Department has placed a stabilized base material on several roads due to the traffic volumes within Swallowfork.  The roadway is requiring more frequent grading maintenance.

 

Staff is recommending an additional Surface Treatment (Chip Seal) be applied to Kingbird Drive, Swallowfork Ave and Mayhaw Lane.  See attached Memo for additional details, Tab A, at an estimated cost of $146,000.

 

The funding would be available from saving on the Conner Cutoff Culvert Replacement (Approximately $100,00) and other Road & Bridge operating accounts, Tab B.

 

The Road & Bridge Department will request Piggybacking off Polk County Bid # 15-601 (PC 004 & PC 009) from 10-05-15 to 10-04-18 to Asphalt Paving System Inc, 9021 Wire Road, Zephyrhills FL 33540, Tab C.

Request:
Consider the following: 1) approve the Surface Treatment Project in Swallowfork Subdivision at the estimated cost of $146,000; 2) authorize the Chairman to sign associated Budget Transfer; and 3) authorize the Chairman to sign the Piggyback Agreement with  Asphalt Paving System, Inc., Contract No. CM2434, utilizing Polk County's Bid for Pavement Management Alternative Methods. Funding Source: 03404541-534000 and 03402541-563300 CCCR.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:

This budgeting will not be required in future budgeting process.


Action Requested and Recommendation:

  1. Request the Board of County Commissioners approve the Surface Treament Project in Swallowfork and authorize the chair to sign the attached Road & Bridge Budget Transfer 2017-11, Tab B.

  2. Request the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chair to sign the Piggy Back off Polk County Bid 15-601 (PC 004 & PC 009) dated 10-05-15 to 10-04-18 to Asphalt Paving System Inc, 9021 Wire Road, Zephyrhills FL 33540, Tab C.
