Background:
The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is seeking applications for funding for the COPS Office FY2016 COPS Hiring Program. This program furthers the department's mission of advancing public safety through community policing by addressing the department's goal of assisting state, local, and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence. The Sheriff's Office is applying for grant funding for 4 additional deputy positions.
Request:
Sheriff's Business - Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant Application to fund four additional deputies.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Reduce crime with increase in patrol.
