In July 2015, the Northeast Florida Fair Association filed an application with the Department of Agriculture in an attempt to obtain grant funding to renovate several facilities at the fairgrounds. If approved, the Association could receive up to $900,000 in grant funding.
In September 2016, the Northeast Florida Fair Association appeared before the Board and indicated that in order to be successful in obtaining their grant, they need to show that the County has a vested interest in their project. They subsequently asked the County to set aside $50,000 in the FY 16/17 Budget. The Board approved their request with the understanding that the funds will only be provided if they are awarded the grant from the Dept. of Agriculture.
Paulette Kirkland will be providing the Board with an update on their grant application and fundraising efforts.
