Item Title:COPS Grant Certification of Illegal Immigration Cooperation

Background:
At the BOCC Meeting held on June 21, 2017, the Sheriff's Office submitted a grant application for the COPS Hiring Program that was approved and signed by the Chairman. On September 7, 2017, the Sheriff's Office was notified by the DOJ that additional consideration will be provided to those local governments that cooperate with federal law enforcement to address illegal immigration. This must be submitted by September 29, 2017.
Request:
Sheriff's Business - Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Certification Form as required for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Reduce crime with increase in patrol.
Action Requested and Recommendation:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the Certification.
