| | | | | | | | | Background: | | On January 1, 2017 Judge Foster sent a letter to the Chairman requesting the board to fund services for a contractor to serve as a Family Court Magistrate due to the increasing caseload of family law and related cases and proceedings in Nassau County. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2004-40, the Board imposes a $65 court cost as authorized under Section 939.185, Florida Statute. The Statute allows 25% of the $65 funds collected to be used to "fund innovations, as determine by the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court, and to supplement state funding for elements of the courts system identified in" Section 29.004, Florida Statutes.
