On November 28, 2017, the Board approved the 2017 Holiday Schedule which showed Nassau County Offices being closed on Friday, December 22nd (Christmas Eve observed) and Monday, December 25th (Christmas Day observed). Chief Judge, Mark H. Mahon, sent a memorandum on August 1st indicating that his office will be closed on Monday, December 25th (Christmas Day observed) and Tuesday, December 26th (day after Christmas). Staff seeks Board direction as to whether or not other County Offices should be closed the same days. If so, the Board would need to approve an amended 2017 Holiday Schedule.
Included in Judge Mahon's memo are dates his office plans to observe holidays for 2018. The Constitutional Officers have signed the annual Holiday Schedule for 2018 and have submitted it for the Board's approval. This schedule is consistent with the dates in Judge Mahon's memo.
Chief Mahon has also provided a list of holidays they will be observing in 2018. In previous years, the Board receives the holiday schedule after it has been approved by Judge Foster and all the other Elected Officials. However, if the Board chooses, they can make a motion to approve this 2018 schedule provided by Judge Mahon.
