Background:

Pursuant to Section 102.141, Florida Statutes, two members of the Board of County Commissioners shall be appointed to the Nassau County Canvassing Board. One shall serve as Canvassing Board Member and the other shall serve as an Alternate Canvassing Board Member. If no member is able to serve or is otherwise disqualified, an elector of Nassau County who is not a candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed and who is not an active participant in the campaign or candidacy of any candidate with opposition in the election being canvassed may serve.

Attached is Section 102.141, County Canvassing Board duties as well as an opinion from the Division of Elections pertaining to canvassing board members being active participants in campaigns.

Appoint two County Commissioners to the Canvassing Board, one as a Canvassing Board Member and the other as an Alternate Canvassing Board Member.
