The County Manager's Office received a letter dated October 18, 2017 from the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance requesting the following:
1) Permission to use one half of Peters Point from 6:00 a.m. on Monday, March 5th through Wednesday, March 7th at 11:59 a.m. and all of Peters Point from 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, March 7th through Monday, March 12th at 11:59 a.m. to provide parking for show car transport vehicles and to create access to the show field for cars that are not street legal. The organizers have confirmed that the access road to the beach would remain open and that handicapped accessible spaces will be available to the public.
2) Permission to use the Scott Road Beach Access parking area from 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 8th through Sunday, March 11th at 8:00 p.m. to provide media and vendor parking for the event. Organizers have confirmed that 15 spaces will be kept open for public use, as well as the access road to the beach. CSC Security will be on site.
3) Permission to install a temporary, six-foot, chain-linked fence from the drive entering the Ritz Carlton, east of the sidewalk on A1A around to Summer Beach pool and on to the Carlton Dunes wall in Peters Point to prevent unauthorized access to the show field.
Per Ordinance 2016-09, Truck Tractors may be allowed in the designated parking areas after hours with a permit issued by the County Manager. The County Manager's Office will issue a blanket permit for all truck tractors participating in the event and will notify the Sheriff's Office.
The Concours d'Elegance will provide the necessary Hold Harmless Agreement and Certificate of Liability Insurance. Staff is requesting permission from the Board for installation of the temporary chain-linked fence on County property as described in Item #3 above. |
