Item Title:Middle Road & Griffin Road Shoulder Repair (Bid NC17-027) Recommendation of Award/Execution of Requisition

Background:

On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, five (5) bids were received (Tab A) in response to the Invitation to Bid for Middle Road South & Griffin Road Shoulder Repair, bid number NC17-027.  Upon evaluation of the bids received (Tab B), JMD Global Developers was the lowest bid received, $71,424.14.  JMD Global Developers’ Letter (Tab C) notified Contracts Management that they were forfeiting their bid due to wrong price placed on bid package. Therefore, Road & Bridge is recommending that the Middle Road South & Griffin Road Shoulder Repair project be awarded to Florida Infrastructure Inc., the second lowest bid in the amount of $245,600.00 (Tab D).  FDOT has concurred with the award to the second lowest bidder (Tab E).

Consider the following: 1) approve and authorize the Chairman to sign Requisition in the amount of $245,600 for Florida Infrastructure, Inc., to provide shoulder repairs on Middle Road South and Griffin Road; and 2) authorize the Road & Bridge Director to issue a Notice to Proceed contingent upon receipt of required bonds and insurance.
