The West Nassau Historical Society has been given an opportunity to receive a donation of several pieces of vintage Air Traffic Control equipment, as well as some archival records from the Hilliard FAA Center dating back to the opening of the center in the early 1960's. The WNHS would like to utilize these items as part of their museum in their aviation display to be unveiled in April 2018 during Railroad Days.
The donation has been approved by the local FAA Center, however their office in Washington, D.C. has stated their policy it to have the local government body receive ownership of collection initially and then turn it over to the non-profit organization. They have requested for the Board to send them a letter requesting these items for donation. The list of items and the letter for the Chairman's signature will be provided prior to the meeting.
Nassau County Attorney, Mike Mullin, has reviewed this request and did not have any concerns. |
