On May 22, 2017, the Board amended the Animal Control Ordinance to include language that an animal cannot be tethered for more than twelve hours in a twenty-four hour period. The Board directed the Animal Services Director to provide them with an update every three months.
Mr. Maguire provided an update at the November 27, 2017 meeting and several citizens in attendance requested the Board to approve an Ordinance banning unattended tethering, as well as additional recommendations
The Board designated a Fact Finding Committee consisting of the County Attorney, the County Manager and the Animal Services Director to hold a series of meetings throughout the County to receive public input on the citizen proposed changes to the Ordinance. Those meetings are still being held, however the Board also made a motion for a discussion regarding unattended tethering be brought back to the February 12th meeting.
