Item Title:Division of Historical Resources Grant Application
Date:5/16/2018
Department:Planning and Economic Opportunity
Background:

Nassau County has not had a comprehensive historic resources survey done in several decades. The completion of a historic resources survey will aid the County in planning efforts related to the Western Nassau Heritage Preservation Committee and other long-range County planning goals. Having an updated historic resource survey is consistent with County Comprehensive Plan Policy CS.12.01. The Planning and Economic Opportunity Department of Nassau County wishes to apply for grant funds in the amount of $50,000 for the purpose of completing a historic resource survey for the County. As a Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) community, the County does not have to provide a match. The Division of Historical Resources, Florida Department of State is now accepting Small Matching Grant applications with a deadline of June 1, 2018. If the application is successful, this project will be funded after July 1, 2019 and the Planning and Economic Opportunity Department will budget for this amount in the FY 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 budget years.
