In 2007, the County and the Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach/Yulee Chamber of Commerce hired a consultant to develop a 25 year vision for the County, know as Vision 2032. A series of meetings were held throughout the County to obtain citizen input on what priorities were most important to them and what they would like Nassau County to look like in 2032. The top concerns were 1) management of growth; 2) recreation and open spaces; 3) infrastructure; 4) environment; and 5) education and school facilities.
In an effort to address priorities 1 (growth management); 2 (recreation and open space); and 4 (environment), Commissioner Taylor has indicated he would like the Board to discuss the possibility of developing a conservation and land preservation plan, as well as a plan on how to fund it. |
