Item Title:Adoption of Ordinance on Customary Use of Beach by the Public

Background:

The Fact Finding Committee has concluded its public meetings in the County regarding adopting a customary use ordinance related to the dry sand areas of the beach. The public meetings were held in the commission chambers and there was considerable input from the public. The Board set public hearings for June 11 and June 21.

 

Note: The June 25th agenda had to be published prior to the June 21st hearing taking place. At the June 21st hearing, Mr. Mullin will request the Board to schedule an additional hearing on Monday, June 25th.

Request:
Consideration of an Ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, recognizing the right of customary use of the beach, in the unincorporated areas of Nassau County, by the public subject to limitations; providing for findings, providing for codification and scrivener errors; providing for judicial review and severability; and providing for an effective date.
