The County received an email from the Northeast Florida Regional Council soliciting priorities for the 2019 Legislative Session. The County Manager's Office sent a copy to each department, along with a copy of the priorities submitted by each County the prior year. The NEFRC has requested that each County submit their top three priorities by Friday, September 7, 2018. The NEFRC Legislative Committee will determine the top "regional priorities" that represent the most critical concerns of the Northeast Florida Region.
Attached are three recommended priorities submitted by the Department of Planning & Economic Opportunity. They are as follows:
1) Restore maximum funding of the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP)
2) Support appropriations to assist local government for property acquisition, building elevation, and relocation of buildings in areas of high risk
3) Provide additional grant funding in both the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Economic Opportunity for the expansion of funding sources to provide water and sewer and eliminate septic systems and individual wells and also for economic development purposes. |
