Item Title:County Medically Indigent Program

Background:

The Health Care Responsibility Act (HCRA) places the financial responsibility for emergency services at out-of-county hospitals on the patient's county of residence. Generally, these funds pay for hospital services only.

The County Medically Indigent Program (CMIP) is a companion program to HCRA. CMIP provides early intervention with medical specialists to reduce the incident of emergency room admissions and provides assistance to clients who otherwise cannot afford maintenance medications. Reimbursement for sponsored services is at the Medicaid rate.

This agreement is the annual renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement.

Request:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Nassau County Health Department, Contract No.CM2588, for the County Medically Indigent Program (CMIP).
