Background:

This ordinance would amend Article 37 of the Land Development Code, Natural Resource Protection, specifically Section 37.05-Landscaping. It is being considered concurrently with the proposed ordinance adopting a new Section 37.02- Amelia Island Tree Protection and Replacement and associated changes to Article 32, Definitions. Included in this proposed ordinance are:

  • Amendments to the supplemental tree list for landscaping;
  • Provisions for for alternative tree species planting adjacent to utilities;
  • Planting detail graphics for landscape buffers;
  • Amending planting requirements; and
  • Clarification of the relationship between buffers, utilities and fencing.

Request:

Consideration of an Ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, amending Section 37.05 of the Land Development Code, Natural Resources Protection; amending the supplemental tree list for landscaping; providing for alternative tree species planting adjacent to utilities; providing for buffer planting detail; amending planting requirements; providing for clarity in the relationship between buffers, utilities and fencing; providing for purpose and intent; providing for severability; providing for codification; and providing an effective date.
