Background:

This ordinance would amend Article 35 of the Land Development Code, State Road 200/A1A Access Management Overlay District, specifically Section 35.09. It is being considered concurrently with proposed ordinances amending Article 32, Definitions and Article 37, Natural Resource Protection. Included in this proposed ordinance are:

  • Amendments to landscaping standards within the overlay district consistent with the concurrent changes to Article 32 and 37.
  • Updates to additional setback requirements (25 feet) required for properties within the overlay district. More specifically, establishing review criteria for waiving the additional 25' building setback along the corridor.
  • Clarifying the requirement to provide cross-access between non-residential, multi-family, and mixed-use developments within the SR200/A1A Access Management Overlay District.

Consideration of an Ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, amending Article 35 of the Land Development Code, State Road 200/A1A Access Management Overlay District, specifically Article 35 regarding landscaping changes for consistency with concurrent changes to Article 32 and 37, clarifying access management standards and updates to twenty-five foot setback requirements; providing for purpose and intent; providing for severability; providing for codification; and providing an effective date.
