The Nassau County Teen Court program is held year round in the Nassau County Courthouse for Teens ages 12 to 18 years of age from our School system county wide. The students serve as jurors, attorneys, and Court Bailiffs to earn community service hours for their respective school requirements. With funding from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office they will be able to continue their Awards and recognize Senior’s each year as they graduate from school.
The Nassau County Teen Court program mission reflects Law Enforcements mission to improve the quality of life in the communities where their employee’s and fellow citizens work and live. The Nassau Teen Court program mission statement states, “Nassau County Teen Court will work together with Nassau County Schools and local Law Enforcement agencies to help decrease the risk of youth victimization through juvenile crime and give them a stake in their community, making ours a better, safer place to live”.
Pursuant to Florida State Statute, Section 775.083, the County in consultation with the Sheriff must expend monies from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for crime prevention programs in the County. As such, I am requesting that the County approve and remit a check in the amount of $1,000.00 to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
