Background:
The Nassau County D.A.R.E. program graduates approximately 900 fifth grade students annually upon completion of a course of instruction taught at the elementary schools in Bryceville, Callahan, Hilliard, Yulee, and Fernandina Beach. The D.A.R.E. program is actively involved at the Northeast Florida Fair in Callahan during the month of October. Pursuant to Florida State Statute, Section 775.083, the County in consultation with the Sheriff must expend monies from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for crime prevention programs in the County. As such, I am requesting that the County approve and remit a check in the amount of $8,000.00.
Request:
Authorize use of $8,000 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund to be used by the Nassau County D.A.R.E. Program. Funding Source: 13031521-581000.
