Date:12/19/2018
Department:Public Works
Background:
Pre-applications were submitted to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 2 for possible safety improvement projects in response to the FDOT Call for Projects. One application is to be submitted by the December 31st, 2018 deadline for various roadway safety improvements on South 14th Street (from Sadler Road to Hickory Street) and Sadler Road (from 8th Street to Citrona Drive).  Safety improvements include replacing a two way turn lane with a raised median, installing left turn flashing yellow arrow signals and signs, updating bicyclist signage and restripe pavement markings. These recommendations are included in the Safety Study prepared by Peters and Yaffee dated November 1, 2018, which is included with the grant application. If approved by FDOT, Nassau County will enter into a Local Agency Program (LAP) agreement with FDOT for completion of the design and construction of these improvements.
