The County Manager's Office received a Special Event Permit Application from GratitudeAmerica, Inc. The event features a 5 mile walking event which will begin at Peters Point parking lot, down the Amelia Trail (Amelia Island Parkway), to Julia Street, and north on the beach.
They are requesting permission to use Peters Point parking area Saturday, February 23, 2019 for parking for the GratitudeAmerica Ruck March for Veterans event. Additionally, they will need permission from the Board to utilize the beach for a portion of the event.
Though the County Manager can approve a Special Event Permit, a request to utilize County property requires permission from the Board. The Special Event Permit will be reviewed by Risk Management to ensure that the organization has the proper insurance to protect the County from liability.
If approved, staff will notify the event organizer that all handicapped parking spaces at Peters Point must remain open for public use and a minimum of fifteen (15) regular parking spaces be kept open for the public. |
