At the November 13, 2018 Ask the County Manager Meeting, several residents attended to notify Mr. Mullin of various issues related to Duval Rd. and Pinegrove Rd. Their concerns included:
- Motorists using both roads as bypass roads causing traffic congestion to a residential area
- Cars traveling at excessive speeds
- Danger to pedestrians due to volume of traffic and lack of sidewalks
- Verbal and physical assaults from motorists when residents have asked them to slow down
The group had several requests and/or ideas on how to address these concerns:
- Installation of "no thru traffic" signs to stop cars from using these roads as bypass roads
- Installation of speed bumps to decrease speeding
- Road improvements to include widening roads and installation of sidewalks, crosswalks, etc.
Following the meeting, Engineering Services installed traffic counting devices and County Manager staff requested additional patrol from the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office has been observed in the area issuing citations for speeding.
Staff will present their findings on all these topics and will seek direction from the Board regarding installation of the no-thru traffic signs. |
