Item Title:Sick Leave for Former Public Works Director

Background:

Former Public Works Director, Becky Bray, resigned from her position effective December 28, 2018. Nassau County's Policies and Procedures allowed for Ms. Bray to receive a payout of annual leave, however according to Nassau County's Personnel Policies and Procedures, Section 4.02, Sick and Bonus Leave, employees are not authorized for a pay out of sick leave unless they retire.

 

Ms. Bray has asked the Board to consider pay out of her sick leave of 136 hours totaling $8,197.92. The County Manager is unable to approve or deny this request and is seeking direction from the Board.  However based on Ms. Bray extending her time with the County, and her efforts in the last thirty (30) days of her tenure, County Manager Mike Mullin recommends approval.
