Background:

This Ordinance amends Article 28, Section 28.14 and Article 32 of the Land Development Code to accomplish the following:

  • Allows Adult Day Care Centers (as defined by State) as a conditional use in residential districts, subject to supplementary development standards.
  • Defines Adult Day Care Center and Child Care Facilities (incl. Family Day Care Home) to match definitions in State Statutes.
  • Makes minor changes to standards for child care facilities to match State standards.
Request:

Consider LDC19-001, an Ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, amending Article 28 of The Land Development Code, Supplementary Regulations; amending Article 32 of the Land Development Code, Definitions, allowing for Adult Day Care Centers in Residential Districts subject to Supplementary Development Standards; adding Definitions for Adult Day Care Center, Child Care Facility, Family Day Care Home, and Large Family Child Care Home; providing for findings; providing for severability; and providing an effective date.
