| | | | | | | | | Background: | Attached a copy of a letter to Chairman Justin Taylor and the Board of County Commission from Sheriff Leeper requesting $3,612.00 from the Crime Prevention Trust Fund due to the overwhelming request from citizens for neighborhood signs to help discourage fast driving in neighborhoods. The signs will have a Sheriff’s Badge on it and will state: “DRIVE LIKE YOUR KIDS LIVE HERE, Sheriff Bill Leeper, Nassau County Sheriff’s Office”. Speeding in Nassau County neighborhoods continues to be a problem and these signs will help the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office prevent some of the speeding.
Pursuant to Florida State Statute, Section 775.083, the County in consultation with the Sheriff must expend monies from the Crime Prevention Trust Fund for crime prevention programs in the County. As such, I am requesting that the County approve and remit a check in the amount of $3,612.00 to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
