Background:

The Arts Council was established in 2007 by City Resolution No. 20017-102 in an effort to improve the appreciation, awareness, and cultural opportunities of all arts in the community. In 2010, the City expressed an interest in creating a County-wide Arts Council to expand their efforts to the west side of the County. They adopted Resolution No. 2010-140 and created what is now Arts & Culture Nassau, to provide two non-voting members to be recommended by the County. Subsequently, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2011-123 supporting the designation of the County-wide Arts & Culture Nassau.

 

The two non-voting members are Marge Powell and Emily Baumgartner and both of their terms expired on May 2, 2019. The City has requested reappointment of both for another 2 year term.

Consider reappointment of Marge Powell and Emily Baumgartner as the County's representatives on Arts & Culture Nassau for a two year term ending May 2021.
