BOCC AGENDA ITEM

Item Title:Timber to Tides: A1A/SR200 Study Update
Date:8/21/2019
Department:Planning & Economic Opportunity
Background:

In 2018, the County engaged with GAI Consultants to assist in a corridor design study for SR200/A1A. Envisioned as the Timber to Tides corridor, PEO staff will be present to give an update on the project's progress and what is to come.

The study is looking at the area from Police Lodge Road west of I-95 and continuing east to the Intracoastal Waterway, approximately 13.18 miles. The goal of the process is to provide specific recommendations for segments identified along the SR 200/A1A Corridor including but not limited to:

  • Creation of place-based segments along the Corridor;
  • Context-sensitive land use and zoning recommendations;
  • Design and implementation strategies for signage, wayfinding, and identity; and
  • Low impact design strategies for addressing stormwater retention in a coordinated way.

Information on the project is available at www.nassaucountyfl.com/timbertotides.
