Nassau County has been selected for a second Resilience Planning Grant (RPG) with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Florida Resilient Coastlines Program (FRCP). PEO applied for the grant to conduct a Vulnerability Assessment for two specific areas of the County: 1) Amelia Island, and 2) west of I-95 north of A1A/SR200/301.
The County received a 2018 RPG Grant to complete a Phase I Vulnerability Assessment. This Phase II assessment will provide the same level of documentation for the rest of Nassau County.
A Vulnerability Assessment for our rapidly growing areas, and areas with demonstrated existing flooding issues, will help us better prepare Nassau County and will dovetail well with existing long-range planning projects that are currently underway to include:
- SR200/A1A Corridor Design Plan
- William Burgess District Connectivity Report
- Western Nassau Heritage Preservation initiative
- Recreation
- Conservation Land Acquisition
- Updating Development Review Regulations
- Cultural Resources Survey Grant
- School Board Growth and Use Committee
- Updating Comprehensive Plan with Peril of Flood Requirements
At the July 17 meeting, the Board approve signing the associated DEP Work Plan, Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act Form, and a Budget Amendment for the unanticipated grant funds, however the grant agreement had not yet been received. |
