Item Title:Consideration of Posting "No Thru Truck" Signs on Amelia Island Parkway, 14th Street, and Sadler Road
Date:10/14/2019
Department:Engineering Services
Background:

Engineering Services has reviewed requests to post “No Thru Trucks” traffic signs on roadways listed below.  Heavy truck loads may decrease the surface life of the County’s local roads. Local deliveries only would be allowed.

Amelia Island Parkway from SR 200 to South Fletcher

14th Street from Atlantic Avenue to Amelia Island Parkway

Sadler Road from 8th Street to South Fletcher

The County Commission has the authority to regulate or prohibit specific types of vehicles under Florida Statute 316.  Staff is recommending that the Commission restrict traffic to local deliveries only, and post signage for “No Thru Trucks”.

Request:
Approve a Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Nassau County, Florida, relating to prohibiting through truck traffic on Amelia Island Parkway from State Road 200 to South Fletcher Avenue, and on 14th Street from Atlantic Avenue to Amelia Island Parkway, and on Sadler Road from 8th Street to South Fletcher, providing for findings by the Board of County Commissioners; providing for placement of both "No Thru Trucks" symbols and "Local Deliveries Only" signs on Amelia Island Parkway, 14th Street and Sadler Road; and providing for an effective date.
Financial/Economic Impact to Future Years Budgeting Process or Effect on Citizens:
Minimal.  Cost of signs only.
