Background:

AARP has a national initiative to make communities across the US great for people of all ages by encouraging local governments to provide safe, walkable streets; age-friendly housing and transportation options; access to needed services; and opportunities for residents of all ages to participate in community life.

 

The Nassau County Health Department has started a local initiative and will be filing an application to designate Nassau County as a registered age-friendly community. They are requesting the Board to pass a resolution in support of membership in the network and to sign a letter of support to be included in their application to AARP.

Request:
Approve a Resolution in support of joining the AARP's Age Friendly Network; and authorize the Chairman to sign a letter of support for the Nassau County Department of Health's AARP Membership Application.

Consider the following: approve a Resolution in support of joining the AARP's Age Friendly Network; and authorize the Chairman to sign a letter of support for the Nassau County Department of Health's AARP Membership Application.
