Animal Care and Control would like to expand the Cattery in order to double our capacity and gain the ability to have a large scale quarantine area. Presently our Cattery can house 100 Cats comfortably, last spring we had over 200 Cats and Kittens in the Cattery, as well as almost 300 in foster homes. When overcrowding occurs in Animal Shelters sickness spreads rapidly, we have experienced this in the past. This addition will not only provide space for approximately 100 more cats but have negative pressure and both an interior and exterior entrance, providing a large room suitable for quarantining groups of sick animals should it become necessary. Animal Care and Control will be holding fundraisers and soliciting donations to purchase new cages, this project is for the Addition only.
Bids were advertised and received. The Bid Opening was held on December 12, 2019, and the low bid was from Thomas May Construction Company at the price of $227,650.
