| | | | | | | | | Background: | The County and City of Fernandina Beach have an interlocal agreement for lifeguard services. The original agreement was approved on February 9, 2011 and provided for $10,000 for operating and $103,000 for personnel (total of $113,000 annually) to be paid to the City of Fernandina Beach for ocean rescue services.
Amendment No. 1 (CM1721-A1) approved on November 27, 2017, allowed for a $5,000 increase, providing for $10,000 for operating and $108,000 for personnel ($118,000 total annually)
Due to an increased demand for service, the City has requested another amendment to the original contract as follows:
- Section 6, Fees, increasing the contract amount to $135,000 annually ($10,000 for operating and $125,000 for personnel).
- Section 5, Duties and Responsibilities, modifying dates that Ocean Rescue Services will be provided. The initial contract provided for Ocean Rescue Services beginning the first weekend in May through Labor Day. The amended contract will provide for Ocean Rescue Service beginning the first weekend in March through Labor Day.
