Background:

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by Congress on March 27, 2020. Florida's allocation was $8.328 billion for specific state and local government expenses, as well as economic relief and sustainability efforts.

 

Eligible Florida governments with more than 500,000 residents received approximately $2.472 billion in direct federal assistance. Counties with populations less than 500,000 did not receive direct or indirect funding. There are approximately $1.275 billion remaining in the total allocation reserved for eligible Florida local governments. Attached is a resolution requesting distribution of the $1.275 billion in CARES Act Funding to local governments not receiving funding directly from Congress.
