The Community Alliance of Northeast Florida (CANEFL), in consultation with local communities as required by Florida Statute 20.19, is a group of stakeholders, community leaders, client representatives and funders of human services in Clay, Duval and Nassau Counties to provide a focal point for community participation and governance of community-based services. The CANEFL covers Clay, Duval and Nassau Counties to provide more effective representation also mirroring the 4th Judicial Circuit and represents the diversity of each community. The membership of the CANEFL is comprised of but not limited to the following from Clay, Duval and Nassau Counties:
1. A representative from the Department of Children and Families
2. A representative from County Government
3. A representative from the School District
4. A representative from the County or Circuit United Way
5. A representative from the County Sheriff’s Office
6. A representative from the Circuit Court of each County
7. A representative from the County Children’s Board or Commission
The CANEFL meets on the third Wednesday of every other month at alternating locations. Members serve one to three year terms (depending on appointment) and do not receive any compensation. Alliance members shall annually submit a disclosure statement of services to the Department’s inspector general. Any member who has an interest in a matter under consideration by the Alliance must abstain from voting on that matter.
Currently, Pat Edwards is the current representative however his term as Commissioner will end in November 2020 and a replacement will be needed. |
