Item Title:CARES Act - Small Business Recovery Grant Program Overview

Background:

On June 24, 2020, the Board County Commissioners approved a contract with Government Services Group (GSG) to create a CARES Act Expenditure Plan for Nassau County. The County Manager, Assistant County Manager, OMB Director and representatives from GSG have been working diligently with our partner agencies to detail the needs of the County and devise a plan to maximize the available CARES Act funds to support our community through these challenging times.  One of the programs within the CARES Act Expenditure Plan is the Nassau CARES Small Business Recovery Grant.  Another aspect to be considered is the allocation of funds from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) to Nassau County to be utilized for rent and mortgage assistance.

 

Prior to the Wednesday July 29th unveiling of the full Nassau CARES plan, GSG and County Administration feel it prudent to review with the Board seek direction as to the Nassau CARES Small Business Recovery Grant (SBRG) program eligibility criteria and options for allocating funds.  In addition, review the proposed allocation of funds available from the FHFC via the Coronavirus Relief Fund allocation in order to assist with rent and mortgage assistance. 

Request:

5:00 P.M. Special Meeting - Consider the following: 1) presentation by David Jahosky, Managing Director for Government Services Group regarding the Nassau CARES Small Business Recovery Grant; 2) approve the Nassau CARES Small Business Recovery Grant Program eligibility criteria and means of allocating funds; 3) approve the Nassau County Coronavirus Relief Fund allocation from FHRC to assist with rent and mortgage assistance.
